Mobile Marketing Revolution

by

With 2009 behind us, and a fresh new year ahead, we need to focus on how we can best position ourselves for success in 2010. As past years have shown in all industries, with a new year comes new trends and new technologies. Trends have shown that 2010 will present new internet marketing efforts with a large push toward mobile marketing. Mobile marketing is all about marketing to people through their smart-phones and mobile devices. 2010 has the potential to change business opportunities by engaging with consumers through their mobile devices.

The mobile market industry is exploding. According to the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA), mobile marketing expenditures are expected to exceed $2 billion in 2010. The MMA states that there are 54.5 million mobile Internet users on a regular basis and more than 172 million phones are capable of browsing the Web. There’s been a lot of hype about mobile phones for years, but the mobile web market has finally arrived.

2010’s mobile technology advances could revolutionize internet marketing. To stay ahead of your competition you must keep an eye on the ever-changing trends. Stay one step ahead of your competitors by being sure to place your business in the mobile marketing arena.

Create a mobile website, mobile ads, engage in text message advertising, or create a mobile application. Whether your business taps into one level or all levels, the opportunity exists to bring your business to new heights. Whatever marketing avenue your business decides to venture toward in 2010, be sure to make mobile marketing one of your New Year’s resolutions.

How User Friendly is Your Website?

by

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is and always has been a core competency of MoreVisibility. We have been advising companies’ for ten years how to make their sites more SEO friendly. That being said, it is also imperative not to forget the importance of ensuring that your site is User Friendly.

When was the last time you looked at your site from a visitor’s perspective? We all get busy with day to day nuances and before you know it, a year has passed since you completed a thorough review from the standpoint of a user. I encourage you to take the time to visit your site and go through it page by page. Really read through your content; does it read the way you want it to or should it be updated? Are there new offerings that should be included? Perhaps different or updated calls to action would be appropriate?

Important items to take note of:

Make sure your pages load quickly and without errors.  Did you know that Google will penalize you if your pages have slow load times? In other words, if an advertiser’s landing page loads slowly once an ad is clicked on, the ad position and minimum bid for keywords will be affected, as will your Quality Score.

Is your site easy to navigate? Think like a customer; make it seamless for your visitors to maneuver through your site and find exactly what they are looking for. For example, if they click on “Newsletter Signup”, you will want to ensure this brings them to a simple and user friendly form to complete.

Does your site have clear calls to action? What is it that you want your visitors to do? Here are some examples of calls to action that are clear and to the point: Call Now, Act Now, Click Here, Enter Coupon Code for Discount, Enter Your Email Address, etc.
Remember, your website is a representation of you. Make sure it says exactly what you want it to say.

Yahoo Ads Get Mobilized

by

Despite the recent announcement of a Yahoo-MSN search deal, Yahoo continues to make news with updates to their advertising platform. Now they have announced the addition of mobile ads for iPhones, iPod Touches, and Android phones.

The twist to this is that Yahoo did not imply that these ads would be compatible with any Windows Mobile Devices. So MSN was basically left off of this new Yahoo revenue stream… very interesting.

Finally, and more importantly, how does this affect current Yahoo advertisers? If you are currently running a campaign in Yahoo, your ads have been automatically set up to start running as of September 29th. 2009. For some businesses this is great, for others this may result in unqualified traffic. I would recommend anyone running a Yahoo Search Marketing campaign to check out your campaign settings now and monitor how these changes are affecting your overall results.

Only time will tell how much revenue this means to Yahoo and how much cost this means to the advertiser.
